Holy cow!!! A bagel has 50g of Carbs in it. I never paid attention to that. When I'm on my health kicks, I never buy them. And when I'm not kickin' it, I don't pay attention to everything. At least there's only enough for me to eat at breakfast for 3 days. I get up pretty darn early for work. About 4:15. Therefor, I eat pretty early. This morning I had the Sarah Lee Everything bagel with just enough neufchatel cream cheese to wet the bagel. And polished it off with a cup of coffee. I like to add almond milk to mine. It's way better for you than creamer. If it's not sweet enough, try adding a squirt of agave nectar. Very yummy!!! I used to add it, but I can handle my coffee w/o the sweetener now.
I was good and packed lunch and snack. Not as good as I would recommend, but I am making the effort, which is better than I can say I have done for the past 3 months. It's weird how life is. I got down and poopy on myself and my life, and that's when I turned to the bad foods and sat on the couch watching movies and reading. Feeling bad for myself. I actually had a hint of abs before that. You wouldn't know it now. I need to just run more when I'm down. Much healthier than the tubs of ice cream I went through. Rocky Road being my favorite.
Around 9am I had 2 clementines. Just a small snack to tide me over before lunch. Since I had breakfast around 5, I should have had those closer to 7 or 8. But, I'm a busy girl at work, so I do what I can. Lunch came around 11, which is perfect timing from my snack. I packed a spinach leaf salad with tomato, mushroom and radish. Not many veggies, but at least there were veggies. I also had a banana, gotta have that potassium. My work was doing a little cookout for employees, so I dabbled in a little that I wouldn't normally do when being healthy. But, I was very good about it. I only had maybe 1/4C of potato salad. Literally, just a spoonful. Same amount of baked beans, and a tiny little brownie. There was so much more and it was very hard not to grab chips and cookies. For protein, since I was horrible and didn't pack any, I grabbed 1 piece of BBQ chicken that they cooked on the grill. The BBQ would be the bad part, but I really needed protein.
I did pack a yogurt for work, but I never got to that. When I got home, I decided to stick it back in the fridge and start on chores. And, then I started to type this up and my inner self yelled at me. It has been way too many hours since I ate. And we must eat every 2-3 hours to speed up that metabolism. Small portions. So, I went ahead and had 1/2 of an apple with 1TB of peanut butter. And, it's a good pnut butter. No sugar added. Make sure you check those labels.
I know he healthy stuff costs a bit more. Trust me, I can't afford it. But, with time, I build up a collection of items that don't spoil quickly. Remember, you don't have to do it all in one shopping trip. Don't stress yourself out with money. Buy what you can, when you can, and make sure to make a list when you go shopping. This will help you to not buy something you already have.
With doing this blog, just on day 2, I'm finding that I obviously have an issue with protein, healthy fats, and veggies. I love all of them, but fruit seems easier to eat. I've probably had 3 servings of fruit today, maybe 3 veggies, and just 1 protein. The piece of chicken was small, so that combined with the pnut butter may equal 1. Good thing I'm going to be cooking tonight. Real food. Not sure what but it will be full of stuff.

The decision has been made!! Step 1
Figures, I would be the one to start back up when I'm sick and have no energy to do much of anything. That includes time consuming cooking and chopping etc. So, day one isn't going as planned. I did have a healthy breakfast. Luckily I made a ton yesterday. It was white sweet potato chopped and put in to a pan with chopped onion. After some simmering in omega 3 oil, I added a tiny bit of water and put the lid on to help soften the potatoes. Added some sliced peppers, jalapeno, mushroom, minced garlic and spinach. I sliced up some chicken breast and cooked that. Once that cooked, I tossed it in to the pan with the potato mix. that was in. Plenty of protein and complex carbs from the veggies. Skipped out on the fruit due to my laziness when I'm sick. I followed up my breakfast with a game of battleship with my son. I nearly fell asleep while playing. I actually thought I may have mistakenly taken night time medicine before breakfast.
After my much needed 1.5 hour nap, I checked my meds and thankfully, I was not the blonde I thought I was. I just needed sleep since I didn't get much last night. So, I woke up and got off the couch, just in time for lunch. And, I might add, not the best, but not the worst. Hotdogs are easy and I had crescent rolls. The hotdogs that I had were nitrate and nitrite free. So, they could have been worse. I ate one dog in a roll with a thin slice of colby jack cheese (the block cheese) and raw spinach. I know I wasn't good with water. I had to cups of Hot Green tea with mint. I added raw unrefined honey and lemon juice to it. It helped with my throat, I think. At least I was told it would. I spent my day sitting my butt on the couch, watching movies and reading. Almost done with 50 Shades Darker. Def a hot series of books, but not written so greatly. I don't enjoy the repetition of words.
Now on to dinner, and still not the best, but not as bad as it could have been. Guess I'm getting a slow start to this. I usually go head on hard core. Perhaps that's been my mistake each time. So, I'm not a fan of throwing food away. That's like lighting money on fire, and I just don't make that much. Had the last pig in a blanket, with broccoli. Really not much food. Usually, when being healthy and making good decisions, I eat at least 5 times a day. I'm hoping that by logging everything, and knowing others can see what I'm doing, I will be motivated not to screw up. It is quite embarrassing to be starting out like this. Tomorrow is another day, and I've already got my food packed for work. That's a good start.
